Attention Freshmen:

Check out the Give Something Back Foundation (GSBF) Scholarship at www.giveback.ngo. This program offers to fund the cost of college for students who are people of high character, who have a high level of academic achievement, and are eligible for a full Pell grant. Any freshman who is interested must attend one of the upcoming GSBF Scholarship Mandatory Information Sessions scheduled below:

  • October 11th - Peoria High School at 9:15 a.m. in the auditorium
  • October 17th - Plainfield Central High School at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium
  • October 17th - Reed Custer High School at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium
  • October 18th - Beecher High School at 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium
  • October 18th - Lockport High School at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium
  • October 23rd - Bolingbrook High School at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria
  • October 23rd - Joliet Central High School at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria

Attention Juniors & Seniors:

The ASVAB test will be offered at PHS on Wednesday, November 14th during the school day. Any junior or senior interested in taking this free military test should see their counselor for a registration form.

Any student interested in taking the SAT on a National SAT test day must register online at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat?navid=gh-sat. PHS will host the National SAT test on the following dates:
Saturday, December 1, 2018
Saturday, June 1, 2019

Attention Seniors:

Financial Aid Information: Beginning October 1, 2018 seniors and their families are able to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is strongly recommended that all college bound students complete this application before December 1st. Check out the website below for important information and changes regarding the FAFSA: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out.

Most PHS Local Scholarship applications will be available on the website beginning Friday, February 8, 2019 and will be due on Friday, March 15, 2019. Paper applications will also be available in the Guidance Office. 

Just a reminder...If you are a male U.S. citizen, age 18 or older you are required to register for the Selective Service. Visit http://www.sss.gov more information.

Financial Aid & Scholarship Night Presentation 
Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the PHS Auditorium                        

  • The College and Financial Aid specialist from the Illinois Student Assistance Commision (ISAC) will give a general overview presentation to seniors and their families about Financial Aid and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The ISAC specialist will also have a table set up with brochures and will be available to answer college and financial aid planning questions.

  • Representatives from the Kankakee Area Career Center will do an overview presentation on the elective options the school has to offer for PHS students. Information regarding dual credit as well as college and career planning will be provided.

College Planning Night
Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the PHS Auditorium                                   

  • The PHS School Counselors and guest speakers will be presenting on the college admissions process and timeline. Students interested in attending a two or four-year college are encouraged to attend this free event with their family.

2018 Free College Fair

Free College Fair: October 17, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Joliet Junior College

***School Counselors from local high schools and admission representatives from over 125 colleges and universities from around the country will be available at these free events to answer questions and distribute materials regarding the college admission process.
